Good to Better

We left our kids for 4 days to focus on our marriage though it wasn't easy! We know that focusing on our health runs over into our family's health and our ministry's health.

As we left for the 10 hour drive to Krakow Poland, we examined our marriage and thought about how great we are doing as a couple. But that didn't mean we were left with out work to do. This conference brought up areas where we could each improve. The truth is, no matter how good your marriage is, it can get better.

I love how Josiah Venture puts so much value into the health of marriages and families!

These 4 days were such a blessing:

  1. Getting to ride in the car with some of the sweetest people and really connecting with them is a true gift from God.
  2. 4 days with out service on our phone and no computer which... translated means... no work.
  3. Sitting in on sessions that ask such deep questions about the health of our marriage as they gave the tools to seek God on how to improve.
  4. A free 1 hour counseling session.
  5. Money provided for lunch and dinner.
  6. The whole retreat was FREE
  7. God really did challenge Shawn and I to make a good marriage even better.

 8. We came home to a clean house and happy kids.

I can not express into words the things God did in these last four days! He brought back trust in an area where I didn't even know that I had lost the trust. And as I prayed through this, I felt such a burden lifted off. God showed us an area of perfectionism that could be very deadly for our family if we continued to operate in such a way.
I thank God that He sent us the Holy Spirit, our Counselor, to point out areas in our life that do not reflect Christ and then gives us the tools to change. And there is more, but this is it in a nutshell :)
