If this* truth were an apple crisp from Beppe (The best one you'll ever taste) than what we've experienced these last few months would be like eating a crumb.
1 John 2:23
*No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.
We've been overwhelmed with the effort and love shown to our kids from our families back in America. We understand how difficult it must be for them because we have no phone, no skype, and we are so far away.
It warms and fills our hearts when they absolutely delight in our kids.
They love them. It’s so evident.
  • delighting, delighting, delighting in them.

  • I wondered why I felt so loved by them loving my kids. It helped to paint a different picture…
What if they didn't put effort into a relationship with them?
Would I feel loved even if they did kind things for Shawn and I, but denied their presence while we sat around the table or talked in the living area?
Of course not! It sounds absurd! You cannot love Shawn and Christena without loving our kids. They are part of us. To delight in them is to bring such great delight to our hearts.
These last few months have been just a little “crumb” of the truth of this crisp:
You don’t get the Father without the Son.
You can’t have God without Jesus.
You can’t have God the Father’s heart without loving and delighting in his Son Jesus.
Like I said, a crumb.

Just a tasty crumb of bedrock truth brought to you by grandpas and grandmas, uncles and aunts, in putting effort to show love and delight in our kids.
