Gingerbread houses. Fun, fun. Zack and Nathan went to the library after school called "Fun Club" while little brother and sister were taking their naps.
I was totally expecting the houses to fall apart. But they both proved to be "wise" builders. This was my opportunity to share the Bible Story "The Wise and Foolish Builder" in depth with them. And that is just what we did...
The Wise and Foolish Builders Luke 6:46-49
46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who (#1) comes to me and (#2) hears my words and (#3) puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”
We talked about what it means to continue building our houses/lives on the Rock/Jesus:
(#1) Come to Jesus
(#2) Hear His Words
(#3) Put them into Practice
And when the hard times come, we will not be shaken. I know from experience, that it is such True Joy when we can have Peace even when the storms hit home. That's the kind of joy Paul talked about :)
